London - Moschino's chief executive officer Alessandro Varisco has decided to jump ship during a time of critical growth for the luxury label, to take on a new role at the head of Italian women's wear label Twin-Set Barbieri. Aeffe SpA, Moschino's parent company, confirmed Varisco exit from the label to WWD earlier this week, noting that he would be leaving his role on June 30.

Alessandro Varisco to exit company following a 6 year tenure

Industry sources claim that Varisco is most likely to take on his new position at Twin-Set in July, although this has yet to be confirmed. The Italian women's wear label is controlled by Italian buyout fund, the Carlyle Group, which is currently seeking an initial public offering for the label later this year or early this year. Varisco first joined Moschino as CEO in April, 2009. Prior to joining the team he worked as managing director at Roberta di Camerino and as sales and marketing director at Gianfranco Ferrè.

Following his exit from Moschino, his tasks and responsibilities will be taken over on an interim basis by Massimo Ferretti, executive president of Aeffe Group together with Marcello Tassinari, Aeffe Group managing director and chief financial officer. "We thank Alessandro Varisco for his profuse contribution over the years and for the goals he reached," said Massimo Ferretti to WWD. "Looking to the future, the company is galvanized by the growth path it is on and it is focused on consolidating its success at the international level."

Varisco exits the label during a period of growth. In 2014, revenue for Moschino increased 6.9 percent to 163.4 million euros and accounted for 65 percent of Aeffe total sales. This surge is most likely driven by the label's recently appointed creative director Jeremy Scott, who has been credited with breathing new life into the brand whilst remaining true to the quirky and tongue-in-cheek roots instilled in the brand by its late founder Franco Moschino.
