Currently, Italy is still a Primark-free zone but that will change soon. The Irish retail value chain plans to open its first Italian store close to Milan in February 2016.

Initially, the opening was planned for the end of the year but it got delayed due to problems finding adequate locations in important cities and shopping malls. Primark's first Italian store will be located in Arese, 12 kilometers northwest of Milan.

Arese is where Alfa Romeo used to have its headquarters and production facility; however, production has since moved to outside of Italy. The old factory premises will house a new shopping mall, which is still being built and that will house the new Primark store, which will be sprawled over 7000 square meters and several stories. The company plans to open additional Italian Primark stores in Rome and Venice.

In the UK, Primark currently operates 170 stores. The company recently entered the United States with a flagship store in Boston.
