The Cato Corporation has reported sales of 77.3 million dollars for the four weeks ended June 2, 2018, a 4 percent increase from sales of 74.2 million dollars for the same period ended May 27, 2017. Same-store sales increased 9 percent.

"May same-store stores significantly exceeded our expectations. We attribute a portion of the increase to pent up demand from the first quarter as the weather improved throughout May," said John Cato, the company’s Chairman, President, and CEO in a statement.

Sales for the seventeen weeks were 313.2 million dollars, flat from sales of 311.9 million dollars for the seventeen weeks ended May 27, 2017. The company's year-to-date same-store sales increased 1 percent compared to last year.

As of June 2, 2018, the company operated 1,351 stores in 33 states, compared to 1,373 stores in 33 states as of May 27, 2017.
