Ikea has been name-dropped as a possible contender to take over some of BHS' store locations for its click and collect service.

Daniel Lundholm, from Ikea UK and Ireland, told The Times: “I can confirm that we have not and will not be bidding to buy the BHS business out of administration. However, we are exploring a number of potential locations across the UK for more order and collection points.

News of Ikea’s interest comes as a joint committee investigation into BHS’s demise and the fate of its fragile pension fund gets under way today.

Former BHS owner Sir Philip is expected to be questioned by MPs from the Work and Pensions Committee and the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee on June 15 over a 400 million pound dividend payment made to his family from the business and over his management of the pension scheme.
