John Lewis records 4.5 percent drop in weekly fashion sales

Total sales for the week ending June 2, 2018 at John Lewis were up 0.1 percent on last year, which the company said, were impacted by a particularly warm bank holiday. Fashion sales for the week were down 4.5 percent.

Though fashion sales were down, John Lewis said, company-owned-brand womenswear had a good week with Kin by John Lewis a particular standout at 82 percent. It was also the biggest week ever in lingerie, driven by price matching activity through our never knowingly undersold policy.

EHT sales were up 8.9 percent, while home sales were down 2.4 percent. However, the company added, outdoor living continued to perform well, with sales for the week up 8.7 percent and promotional activity within cookshop helped sales rise by 6.5 percent.
