High street retailer Bhs will be integrated into the Arcadia Group and be run as one of its brands. The operational integration will be to consolidate certain functions such as logistics, property and finance within the businesses to ensure a streamlined and efficient Group. The teams will be undertaking an information-gathering period before reviewing any integration options and implementing any changes over the coming months.

From a retail perspective following a successful trial within the Peterborough store of Bhs, where Arcadia brands Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Wallis were introduced, the Board and Property teams are undertaking a review of how this retail concept, and others, can be extended into further markets. The stand alone homewares concept British Home Stores continues to be rolled out with a further two stores opening in the Autumn in Hull and Thanet.

Sir Philip Green said: "This is work in progress. I believe we have the necessary skill and experience across the two businesses to make some strategic changes that will benefit the Group as a whole, and further strengthen our position within the market place during a difficult retail climate."
