Inditex keeps on growing

The fiscal year 2007 of fashion distributor Inditex, ended with 3,691 stores in 68 countries. The retail area expended with 16% over last year to reach 1.914.493m2. 80% of Inditex’ 560 new openings for FY2007 were in international markets. Looking at the retail area divided in three regions; the Asia-Pacific area grew with 32% through 25 new stores. In Russia, the retail area increased with 65% reaching 50 stores through 21 new stores. The Italian market saw 98 openings, where all Inditex concepts are present.

All the concepts of the Inditex Group, which include sale formats like Zara, Kiddy’s Class, Massimo Dutti and Bershka, have contributed to the international expansion. The multi-concept growth in Russia and Eastern Europe increased the most. As a result, Russia, Poland, Romania, Hungary and Serbia en the fiscal year with stores of five or more concepts of Inditex.

Over 2007, Inditex opened stores in 50 different countries, of which new markets include Croatia, Colombia, Guatemala and Oman. For 2008 the Group is looking to represent its brands in Korea, Ukraine, Egypt and Montenegro. In Asia-Pacific the first store opening in the Korean market will take place, plus the on-going expansion in China and Japan. These three countries are the main bid of the Group, given their economic relevance and growth potential.
