With the Spring/Summer 2016 ready-to-wear shows in full swing, the experts at Trendstop are hard at work to bring you all the latest trends hot off the runways of the world's fashion capitals. Fashion week season officially kicked off in The Big Apple, drawing thousands of editors, buyers and industry professionals to the heart of New York City. On the catwalks, Spring/Summer 2016 collections communicated a fresh design ethos which embraced commerciality, as influential designers strip back strong material and graphic directions to utilise sensual silks and romantic silhouettes instead. This week, FashionUnited readers can discover three New York designers who have been highlighted by Trendstop's editors for S/S16, having created inspirational and directional womenswear collections that gave them standout status this season.

The Otherworldly Wanderer 3.1 Phillip Lim

Celebrating the brand's 10th anniversary, 3.1 Phillip Lim's latest collection eschews some of the more intricate surface plays of recent seasons to make way for a rediscovered sense of romance and femininity. Models took on the look of The Otherworldly Wanderer with whimsical tapestry florals, satiny bomber jackets and Eastern wrap skirts, infused with utility chic shades of khaki, olive and caramel.

Kick of Cool Jil Sander Navy

Sander's diffusion line keeps things youthful and clean for Spring/Summer 2016, placing an energetic athletic spin on the house's signature codes. Broad slabs of sporty colour blocking combine with wide stripes to shake up a baseline palette of monochrome with primaries. Additionally, multiple layers are clashed to reveal sudden bursts of volume and sharply angled hemlines.

Patriotic Parade Marc Jacobs

For Spring/Summer 2016, Marc Jacobs draws on his love affair with all things Americana, using saturated bursts of the iconic red, white and blue colours. A vast sweep of American staples emerge in the form of stars 'n stripes flags, rodeo-fringed denim and oversized varsity jackets, along with revitalised prairie ginghams.
