London - Often we see seismic shifts in fashion, even from season to season the mood can change drastically. Nonetheless, there is a common element what each fashion capital offers each season, on which we can build comparisons.

The London catwalks bring to the global fashion stage eccentric patterns, styling, and quirkiness, with fabric and detailing playing a major role in setting the tone.

Stripes see a huge jump this season with a 250 percent increase from last year, including stripe insets, woven and printed patterns. Shine fabrics and embellishments make a statement in some of the key collections and have a 80 percent YOY increase, jumping from 5 to 9 percent in A/W 16/17, in line with the increase in S/S 16.

Cropped items layer with longer lengths to create a juxtaposition. Cropped jackets increase by 75 percent to hold 14 percent of the jacket assortment, a jump up from 8 percent last year. Cropped trousers continue to hold the highest percentage within the overall trouser assortment of 31 percent, a 35 percent YOY increase.

This is on par with the Pre-Fall 16 collections as well as New York A/W 16/17.
