In a bid to cut costs and offer a better service to customers, MaxMara UK is to move its wholesale distribution of the Italian designer label in-house from current UK agent Robert Danielli as of July 1st. The UK subsidiary already runs the MaxMara standalone shops in London's Bond Street and Sloane Street. The label currently has around 130 stockists in the UK.

MaxMara further plans to expand its number of outlets in the UK to 14 stores over a period of three years.

Madeline Leddington, who owns the five-store chain Madeleine Ann and has stocked the label for over 20 years states: "MaxMara is a good label, but it is not as fashion forward as it used to be. It is a classic brand and is not my most important collection." It is understood that MaxMara is currently in negotiations to sign a showroom in central London.
