Retail Group Neiman Marcus announced its preliminary company-wide revenues for March 2009. Featuring Neiman Marcus Stores and Bergdorf Goodman in its portfolio, the company announced preliminary revenues for a five week period. The company’s five-week reporting period is consistent with last year and reflects a 4-5-4 week third quarter. On 29th March 2008 the total revenue came down to $430 million, which went down with 28.6% to $307 million on 4th April 2008. The comparable revenues dropped a bit more from $430 million to $301 million, a change of 29.9%

In the five-week March period, comparable revenues in the Specialty Retail Stores segment, which includes Neiman Marcus Stores and Bergdorf Goodman, decreased 31.2%. Neiman Marcus experienced weakness across all geographies and merchandise categories in the Specialty Retail Stores segment. Comparable revenues at Neiman Marcus Direct in the five-week March period decreased 23.5%. The top selling merchandise category in the Direct Marketing segment was beauty.

The Neiman Marcus Group includes the Specialty Retail Stores segment and the Direct Marketing segment. The Specialty Retail Stores segment consists primarily of Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores. The Direct Marketing segment conducts both online and print catalog operations under the Neiman Marcus, Horchow and Bergdorf Goodman brand names.
