The British Fashion Council has announced the nominees for the 2016 Fashion Awards with simultaneous events in London and LA, with Jonathan Anderson dominating proceedings with four nominations for his eponymous J.W. Anderson label and Loewe where he is creative director.

Anderson is up for British Menswear Designer and British Womenswear Designer for his eponymous label, while his creative duties at Loewe have seen him nominated for International Accessories Designer and International Ready-to-Wear Designer.

The Britsh designer is up against stiff competition in the international categories, as Gucci’s Alessandro Michele also received the same nominations. There was also a third nomination for Gucci’s Marco Bizzarri in the International Business Leader category.

The nominations were all voted for by 1,500 key members of the fashion industry, with the voting body representing 41 countries across media, retail, communications and creative disciplines such as photography, art direction, set design and production. Each selected their nominations across nine categories and the five brands/individuals who received the most nominations were shortlisted in each category.

The only winners to be chosen by the British Fashion Council will be the Outstanding Achievement Award and Fashion Icon Award, which will be announced on the night, while the recipients of the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, Special Recognition Award, and Swarovski Award for Positive Change will be announced ahead of the ceremony, which is set to take place at The Royal Albert Hall on December 5.

In the hotly contested British Womenswear Designer award, Anderson is up against Christopher Kane, Roksanda Ilincic, Simone Rocha and Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton, while the British Menswear Designer accolade will see Anderson taking on Craig Green, Grace Wales Bonner, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood.

In the British Brand category, nominees include Alexander McQueen, Burberry, Christopher Kane, Erdem and Stella McCartney, while British Emerging Talent nominees include Alessandra Rich, Charles Jeffrey, Faustine Steinmetz, Molly Goddard, and Self Portrait.
