A Leeds-based event company called Creative Industry Hub, that specialises in supporting the Creative Industries in the UK is holding an exciting new initiative in London in March, designed to support and educate independent fashion designers in the UK, through an all-day conference format which has never been done before in an open-book format.

'Breakthrough in Fashion' is the first event of its' kind, and will include a wide range of workshops including PR, Marketing, eCommerce, Manufacturing & Distribution, Trend Forecasting, Building Retail Environments, Blogging, the Buying Process, Sustainability, Manufacturing and more. Each workshop is being taught by some of the UK's leading and most influential fashion experts.

The event has already received a fantastic response with leading fashion businesses, FashionUnited, FASHIONbasecamp and I.LEVEL Software sponsoring. The aim is to help fashion design graduates and independent designers learn the relevant skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the fashion industry as an independent designer.

Some of the speakers will include Nigel Oddy (CEO, House of Fraser), Paul Costelloe, Shailina Parti (Buying and Merchandising Director at Jigsaw UK), Laetitia Wajnapel (Founder/Blogger/ at Mademoiselle Robot), Tamsin Lejeune (CEO at Ethical Fashion Forum and mysource.io), Francesca Hodge (Global Head of Marketing and PR at Lulu Guinness) and much more.

'Breakthrough in Fashion' is being held on the 21st th March, 2016, at Central Whitechapel. George Taylor, the Founder and Director of Creative Industry Hub, who previously set up ‘Strictly Go Networking,’ London’s number one chain of creative networking events for the music and fashion industires hopes the event will help designers to succeed in 2016.

'Every year, roughly 4000 designers graduate from University, but only a small handful of them secure in-house design roles. Independent designers are entering a highly competitive marketplace and often find it difficult to break through. I am hoping this initiative will create a fair playing ground for all, by improving fashion designers' skills and knowledge, helping them to boost their career and/or business.'

Michael Sheridan, the CEO at a leading retail design agency Sheridan&Co, who is speaking at the event believes that 'consumers exponentially drive the pace of change in fashion. Whilst craving originality, ‘shoppers' also want to feel their views are part of the evolutionary process. Events like 'breakthrough in fashion' empower participants through the insights of the industry’s experts, helping fashion talent understand the dynamics of an energetic and changing commercial framework.'
