Walpole, the luxury trade body that represents some of Britain’s best-known luxury brands including Burberry and Alexander McQueen, has called for entries to its annual Brands of Tomorrow programme, which looks to nurture the next generation of British luxury brands.

Walpole is looking for luxury companies that have a minimum annual turnover of 100,000 pounds, that are no older than 10 years, and demonstrate the highest standards of “quality, design and craftsmanship, together with an aspiration to develop into full Walpole members”.

Entries close on October 28, after which a shortlist of applicants will be invited to present their business plans to the selection panel. The final 12 winners of the 2017 program will be announced in January.

Each winner will be matched with an industry mentor and take part in six workshops, dealing with strategy, financial planning, distribution channels and models, branding, marketing, the customer and the complexities of managing a small, growing business.

Since its inception in 2007, more than 90 emerging luxury brands, including Charlotte Olympia, Astley Clarke, Shaun Leane, Miller Harris, Bremont, Rococo Chocolates, Nyetimber, Business of Fashion, Emilia Wickstead and Mr Hare, have successfully completed the programme and become leading brands in their respective fields.

The current Brands of Tomorrow class includes contemporary womenswear label The Fold, London-based luxury handbag brand Milli Millu, and British activewear brand Monreal London, with mentors including Harrods’ Michael Ward, Thomas Pink president Jonathan Heilbron, and former chief executive of Jaeger Colin Henry.
