Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet has extended her term as chairman of the British Fashion Council until the end of the year.

Massenet, who was recently named a Dame in the Queen’s New Year Honours List, will continue to lead the executive board’s strategy, be a spokesperson, figurehead and industry ambassador for the organisation, the British Fashion Council confirmed.

Massenet became chairman of the British Fashion Council in January 2013, replacing Harold Tilman. The chairman’s role is an honorary one, with an initial three-year commitment.

Confirming her extension, Massenet said: “I am immensely honoured and excited to be staying for another year at the helm of the BFC. Over the past three years we have worked hard to deliver on our strategy and promise to build the profile of our industry and our businesses worldwide.

“Britain has some of the world’s most creative and innovative designers, and this is seen through the brands showing at London Fashion Week, London Collections Men, and British talent at the helm of global luxury brands.”

Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC, added: ”We are delighted that Natalie will be staying for another year as we continue to develop the role the BFC plays in championing our sector, tackling challenges and developing opportunities for businesses to grow.”
