Debenhams has started a consultation period which could lead to 60 job losses at its support centres, according to reports.

According to Retail Gazette, a source said that support centre staff in London and Taunton were warned on Tuesday of the news, with roles in back-office and support teams thought to be those concerned. No in-store roles are thought to be affected.

The move looks to be in line with Debenhams’ recent cost-cutting turnaround plan following the announcement in October last year that it would be closing up to 50 of its worst-performing stores in the next three to five years.
