New York - Ladies Professional Golf Association has opened its first store in South Korea. LPGA Gallery was opened in partnership with their licensed partner MK Trend.

LPGA has their sights set on Asia as the next market for expansion. The deal they signed with MK Trend stipulates that they will open a dozen stores in and around Seoul by 2016, and increase that number to 100 stores by 2018. In the next two years, LPGA Gallery will also begin growth in China.

Also, MK Trend has created a collection of 300 styles under the LPGA banner for both men and women. The collection is very performance athletic wear focused.

South Korea was seen as the best market to launch the apparel given their fashion obsessed clientele.

For 2018, the UL International Crown will also be held in South Korea, making it the first time the tournament will be held outside of the United States. It makes sense though, since nine of the top 20 players are from South Korea.

In a statement, Jon Podany, chief commercial officer for the LPGA, said, “We believe we have the right partner in MK Trend and with the LPGA’s popularity in Korea, the timing is right to make a major statement.”
