Red’s Hot Women Awards nominations revealed

Monthly magazine Red has announced the shortlist for its Red’s

Hot Women Awards 2011, which includes Sarah Burton, Mary Portas and Tamara Mellon. The awards take place in November and honour Britain’s most talented working women, and recognise everyone from designers to bloggers, and businesswomen in the third annual ceremony.
 
Judge and Red Editor-In-Chief, Sam Baker, says: “I am thrilled to announce the shortlist for this year’s Red’s Hot Women Awards. It’s hard to believe we are already in our third year and the level of talent is more impressive than ever. We are looking forward to announcing the winners and hope to inspire women across the country with the results.”
 
This year’s award categories include: Blogger, Ethical/Eco, Fashion, Internet, Media, Women to Watch and the new Celebrity Woman of the Year category, the winner of which will be announced on the day.
 
In the fashion category, Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton will go head to head with Mary Portas, the former for creating a royal wedding dress lauded by the nation and marking a moment in fashion history, and the latter for helping us to demand more from retailers. This hotly anticipated category also features Jimmy Choo’s Co-Founder and CEO, Tamara Mellon, Burberry’s CEO Angela Ahrendts and Caren Downie, ASOS’s Buying Director.
 
In the bloggers category Sasha Wilkins, aka Liberty London Girl and Emily Johnston, creator of Fashion Foie Gras receive a nominations.
 
Other inspirational fashion women who have been nominated include: Julie Deane and Freda Thomas, in the Start-Up category for their accessories brand, Cambridge Satchel Company; Vivien Johnston, Founder of ethical jewellery label, Fifi Bijoux is up for the Ethical/Eco award; My-Wardrobe.com’s Founder and CEO, Sarah Curran is nominated in the Internet category; and fashion designer Samata Angel is up for the coveted Women to Watch prize.
 
Lauren Laverne will present the awards at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel on November 23.
