British fashion retailer, Karen Millen, has announced the launch

of its first foreign language website in Germany. This new transactional site, which launched this month, is part of the brand’s international expansion strategy that will see the store having dedicated sites in key markets.

The German site caters specifically to German domestic preferences and provides an authentic local shopping experience. This includes local payment options such as paying by invoice and money transfer, as well as a range of delivery options and of a free returns policy. The site also features a dedicated branded content section entitled KM Uncovered, which gives a unique insight into the brand’s vision.

“We are delighted with the brand loyalty we have secured in the German market since the opening of our stores,” says Gemma Metheringham, Joint Managing Director, Karen Millen. “The local language site will to reach out to a wider audience and enhance the brand experience for customers in this market.”

Karen Millen currently has four stores in Germany in key cities including Düsseldorf and Hamburg, with the most recent launch being in Berlin in late 2010, seeing sales more than doubling in the last three years.

The German website is the first of three planned for launch in international territories by 2012, which includes Australia in November 2011.

This year the brand celebrates 30 years of international success, and has more than 300 stores and concession in over 40 countries; and in 2007 the retailer launched its transactional UK website, which now ships to 21 countries outside of the UK and attracts visitors from more than 200 countries.
