Johnstons of Elgin adds new board directors

Scottish cashmere and tweed brand Johnstons of Elgin has appointed two new members to its board as non-executive directors, including former Richemont fashion and accessories chief executive Marty Wikstrom.

Wikstrom is a seasoned brand and retail executive, she spent eight years at Richemont, was the first female managing director at Harrods, and has held various senior positions at US retailer Nordstrom including president.

Currently, Wikstrom serves as chairman of Harry’s of London and is also a director of Fortnum & Mason, and she has been brought on to assist Johnstons of Elgin develop their own branded collections, as well as work with the luxury businesses it currently supplies.

The additional board appointment is Jenny Houldsworth, who is part of the fourth generation of family ownership of Johnstons and has worked within several of the brand’s departments, most recently within HR where she was responsible for learning and development.

Commenting on her appointment, Houldsworth said: “Johnstons of Elgin is an incredible community to work within. It feels right to now be playing a part in the governance of it, 111 years after my late great-grandfather joined the business.”
