L Brands earnings increase 8 percent in Q2

L Brands, reporting its second quarter results said that earnings per share increased 8 percent to 0.68 dollar compared to 0.63 dollar for the quarter ended August 2, 2014, including a 0.02 dollar negative foreign exchange impact.

Second quarter operating income increased 7 percent to 402.9 million dollars compared to 375.9 million dollars last year, and net income was 202.5 million dollars compared to 188.4 million dollars last year. The company reported net sales of 2.765 billion dollars, an increase of 3 percent compared to sales of 2.675 billion dollars same quarter, last year. The company reported a comparable store sales increase of 4 percent for the quarter under review.

The company expects 2015 third quarter earnings per share to be 0.40 dollar to 0.45 dollar, and raised its full-year earnings forecast to 3.58 dollars to 3.73 dollars per share from 3.50 dollars to 3.70 dollars previously, which includes a negative foreign exchange impact of approximately 0.12 dollar per share.
