Men's Wearehouse buys UK Dimensions Clothing

Men's Wearhouse, a specialty retailer of men's suits in the USA,

announced the acquisition of UK's Dimensions Clothing Ltd of GBP 61m or US$ 97.44m. Dimensions is a provider of corporate clothing uniforms and workwear in the UK.

Men's Wearhouse said that the combined businesses are organized into a UK-based holding company, in which Men's Wearhouse will control 86%, with certain existing shareholders of Dimensions controlling the rest.

The Houston, Texas-based company expects the acquisition to be earnings accretive in fiscal 2010, excluding transaction and integration expenses.

Commenting on the acquisitions, George Zimmer, Men's Wearhouse founder, chairman and chief executive officer, stated, "These transactions give Men's Wearhouse a strong market position in UK corporate apparel. Operationally, Dimensions' management will join our organization."

"Additionally, our new UK organization has strong sourcing operations in Asia and Eastern Europe and will service clients from multiple distribution facilities," Zimmer added.

Founded in 1973, Men's Wearhouse is one of the largest specialty retailers of men's apparel in North America with 1,239 stores.
