Asos Q1 retail sales up by 31%

Reporting an increase of 31 per cent in retail sales on year-on-year basis, Asos announced

its trading statement for the first quarter period ended 30 June 2012. Company’s retail sales in UK grew by eight per cent while internationally it observed a growth of 49 per cent. International sales now represent 65 per cent of the total up from 57 per cent last year while UK sales represent 35 per cent of the total.

Nick Robertson, CEO said, “I am pleased to report that trading for the three months to end June 2012 has been strong with retail sales up 31 per cent to £137 million ($212.86 million). We remain positive in our outlook, and continue to trade in line with expectations.”

With its headquarters in North London, Asos is a global online fashion and beauty retailer and offers over 50,000 branded and own label product lines across women’s wear, menswear, footwear, accessories, jewellery and beauty. Asos has websites targeting the UK, USA, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Australia and also ships to over 190 other countries from its central distribution centre in the UK.
