The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced the shortlist of nominees for the British

Fashion Awards 2010.  The event, which takes place on Tuesday 7th December, recognises the most influential people in fashion today and celebrates the reputation and development of British fashion.

The categories this year include Designer Brand, Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator and the two Emerging Talent Award’s, Ready to Wear and Accessories, recognising and supporting young design talent in the British fashion industry.

The inaugural Designer of the Year award recognises a leading British designer of couture, ready-to-wear, knitwear or accessories who has shaped fashion in the past year and raised their international reputation.

Nominations for awards were chosen by the BFC Press Committee and BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent.  The winners are selected by panels of leading British and international media and buyers.

This year is the British Style award, a reworking of last year’s London 25 award, the first in the history of the awards to be decided by public vote. British Style seeks to acknowledge an individual who embodies the spirit of British fashion and is an international ambassador for the UK’s fashion industry.

The full list of nominees can be found on the British Fashion Awards website.
