Mix-d: Face 2010, Britain's first mixed-race modelling
competition, is scheduled to take place at the end of the month amid much anticipation. The event will include a catwalk competition and invite public voting to grant two lucky winners a 12 month modelling contract with Boss Model management - the official sponsor alongside department store Harvey Nichols Manchester and hair and beauty expert Sassoon. The winners will also become the Face of Mix-d: 2010 and support work to promote awareness of mixed-race issues.Funds raised from the contest will be used to help Mix-d: fund a new education pack aimed at increasing understanding of mixed-race issues among young people.
Bradley Lincoln, Founder of Manchester based social enterprise Mix-d, said: “Mixed-race people make up 1.2% of our national population and are the fastest growing ethnic group in the UK but are often overlooked. Through Mix-d: Face 2010, we hope to raise the profile of mixed-race people in society in a positive and engaging way - and to raise money to support our educational initiatives in schools.”
The fundraising event will be held on 30th October 2010 at The Monastery in Manchester.
