John Lewis has reported department store sales of 64.6 million pounds, 3.2 percent below these

of the same week a year ago last year.

The cooperative group has highlighted though that in 2012, there was an extra day of trading in Easter, whereas this year a shorter Easter break plus cold weather have watered their sales.

It said that judged on a two-week basis that reflects the Easter in both years, sales were up 10.5 percent, one of the group’s strongest Easter results ever.

“The cold weather has been unhelpful for spring and summer fashion trade,” recognised Paula Nickolds, a buying director from John Lewis’ home department quoted by ´The Scotsman’.

Despite the cold weather, John Lewis managed to record a 5.6 percent in fashion sales and also saw a 18.7 percent hike in online sales.
