With governments promising changes in Bangladesh's

manufacturing system, an international agreement has been drawn up to secure the safety for its workers. These are workers that are sewing some of the world's most recognised brands, like Zara, H&M, Gap and Abercrombie, and who often work in questionable conditions.

Most of these brands have signed the international agreement, with the exception of Uniqlo's parent company and Walmart.

Fast Retailing stated it prefers to improve disaster prepareness and building inspections at its partner factories on its own. Walmart stated it believed that its own inspection plan would render quicker results.

Gap so far has not signed the agreement as it would like to see changes to the way conflicts are resolved legally.
