Over 600 national and international fashion labels will participate in the 30th edition of

modefabriek on 23 and 24 January at Amsterdam RAI. During this jubilee edition, special attention will be paid to high-end fashion for both men and women. Consequently, the number of exhibitors in this segment has been significantly increased, and a new section, Refined+, has been added in order to showcase the very cream of this sector. As ever, the fringe programme is extremely eclectic and features everything from daily catwalk shows by renowned labels and the designer sale organised by Heleen Hülsmann, to the Nudie Live Stage featuring performances by no less than nine pop and rock acts.

High-end
In this anniversary edition of modefabriek, the spotlight is firmly fixed on high-end fashion. Accordingly, the Refined section has been significantly upgraded. Furthermore, the new section Refined+ offers the chance for labels to present themselves in salon style. The collection includes, amongst others, the contemporary mini-wardrobe consisting of seven items by the Dutch Sophie#1234567+, cutting-edge city elegance for men and women by the Belgian Vandenvos, as well as the lively glam style by Patricia Pepe Sport Fashion. Further new additions to modefabriek include, amongst others, the labels (+) people, Frankie Morello, Something Else and Valerie. A particularly unique new feature is the high-end sale organised by Heleen Hülsmann, which will feature vintage designer fashion and accessories by everyone from Balenciaga to Stella McCartney.

Menswear
This edition sees us continue our collaboration with the retailer Deco. Just as in the previous edition, the fruit of this collaborative venture will be the ‘MF and Deco present...’ feature. New labels making their debut include Windsor, which specialises in luxurious menswear with a clean-cut style, and the sporty label Napapijri. Other participants include Scabal, Greve, Eton and Murphy & Nye, not to mention new names like Post Fire Dew, DNA men and the recently launched Dutch initiative Escher, which uses the graphic style of the painter of the same name to create a top-quality, compact collection of shirts, knitwear and bags.

Catwalk
Every day, an extensive catwalk programme will be offered which will feature, amongst others, renowned labels such as Aaiko, 10 FEET and Blacky Dress. Another highlight will take place at 12 noon on Monday 24 January: the MODEFABRIEK PRESENTS NEXT & CUTTING EDGE show, a must-see for fans of pure fashion and design. This high-profile designer platform showcases the latest collections by twelve up-and-coming and avant-garde fashion labels. If that is not enough for you, then even more promising new talent can be seen at the 3rd Bachelor Young Talent Platform, where a number of third-year fashion students from Arnhem, Amsterdam and The Hague, specially selected by fashion scout Carlo Wijnands, will give you an exclusive glimpse at the fashion of tomorrow.

Trash & Treasures
Young labels, vintage items and luxury streetwear grace the shelves beside books, music, and good food & drink. This is the concept behind this 200m² garage sale, which draws inspiration from cities such as New York, Berlin and London. It is a creative mix that will enthral both fashion professionals and casual enthusiasts alike.

Denim
The connecting hall that leads to the Limited Industry section, which brings together an eclectic blend of young denimwear and premium denimwear, houses a project developed by Nudie Jeans to mark the 30th edition of modefabriek. In addition to screening a film about the roots of denim and the Nudie Jeans label itself, the event will feature no less than nine pop/rock bands who will be performing from 11.00 a.m. onwards. The bands include Valerius, Ape not Mice, Make Believe and The Hype.

Other features (including The Borrel!)
And there’s much, much more! For example, Bridget Maasland will launch her B by Bridget collection, Fred Perry has convinced Anouk to follow in the footsteps of Amy Winehouse and create a rock-chick collection for him, and Josh Veldhuizen will launch her label JOSH V, accompanied by MTV cameras shooting not only the programme ‘24 uur met Josh’ (24 Hours With Josh), but also her own reality series entitled ‘Modemeisjes met een Missie’ (Fashion Girls With A Mission). There will be another pop-up version of the Mendo book store and Amber Isabel will showcase her experimental photographs of sober beauty in an artificial world of chaos and disorder. HTNK Fashion Recruitment & Consultancy will also be present, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the unique project Fashion Here & Now, which featured, amongst others, the designers And Beyond, Daryl van Wouw, MATTIJS and the label Avelon. Just as at previous shows, the catering has been left in the capable hands of, amongst others, Restaurant Envy, and FashionUnited will once again offer Internet access via the internet lounge and free Wi-Fi. And of course, modefabriek wouldn’t be modefabriek if it didn’t go out with a bang at THE BORREL, the lively drinks reception where exhibitors, retailers, stylists and journalists mingle and relax after an action-packed couple of days. The Borrel will be held at Zuidpool from 6.00 p.m. onwards.
