Europe's largest online fashion retailer Zalando has launched a new collect service in the UK,

which allows British consumers the freedom to collect their goods at over 3,500 locations across the country.

Customers will be able to collect or return their orders from selected new agents, petrol stations and supermarket, which will be open until late during the weekend as well as during the week. The pick-up and drop-off locations are run by logistics provider Hermes and are to be introduced to 5,000 locations by 2015.

“We believe that shopping on Zalando should be a convenient and straightforward experience for the customer,” said Robert Schütze, Zalando's UK country manager to Retail Gazette. “Online shopping allows the customer to browse and purchase at any time of the day and now, with the introduction of pick-up points, delivery and returns are now also less dependent on time restrictions.”

The online retailer currently offers comparable service in France, Germany. Norway, Switzerland and and Denmark. Zalando also aims to launch a new app in the UK this summer to ensure its online shopping experience goes as smoothly as possible and to “improve user experience on mobile”.
