Day two of Milan fashion week began with Florentine fashion house Bottega Veneta. Creative director Thomas Maier chose tropical adventures as its inspiration for spring 2015. The brand's sport luxe aesthetic consisted of lightweight sportswear and swathes of luxury utility finishes. Softly structured tailored jackets and fisherman's knits were worn over slouchy shorts with drawstrings.

As a luxury leather goods and accessories company Salvatore Ferragamo always strikes the right note. For its SS15 ready-to-wear collection it too struck a chord: muted colours of browns, beiges and blues formed the colour palette with a lightweight two-button coat jacket opening the show. Elsewhere a loose shaped blouson with contrast sleeve lining and fluid shorts defined the silhouette. Collared v-necks in sweaters and tunic shirts were a key item, as were belted blazers.

Vivienne Westwood's SS15 collection gave a nod to eighties video games with pixellated graphics and signature loose tailoring. The runway is always a platform for both Westwood and her partner, Andreas Kronthaler to present their activist ideas, and this season, they turned our attention to the plight of industrially farmed animals, using the pig as an emblem of their campaign and collection, which was titled Moral Outrage. "It's not just about pig farming but any animal farming. What's going on out there is a disgrace," Kronthaler told Dazed backstage.

Missoni took inspiration from surf culture for its collection, and sent models down the catwalk with long, sun bleached hair and wearing open shirts and jackets over softly tailored shorts. Polo shirts, cardigans and the linining of a blouson jacket bore the traditional Missoni zigzag. Rich tones, like indigo, saffron and sapphire were woven into Moroccan-inspired geometric patterns.

Urban cowboys were the order of the day at Prada, one of the strongest men's shows the company has presented in some time. Everything in the collection was top stitched, with embroidered stitching on lapels, shirting, trousers, even, brown leather-detailed on denim. For evening, there was Swarovski stitching on suiting and knife pleat trousers.
