Arcadia-owned Bhs has poached Marks & Spencer’s head of

menswear Richard Price as its new managing director. Price will join Sir Philip Green’s department store chain in the autumn after seven years at M&S.

This is the latest in a number of senior departures from Marks & Spencer this year, which has seen the likes of senior general merchandise director Andrew Skinner, director of new channels Susan Aubrey-Cound, and brand director Alison Jones leave the high street retailer.

A spokesperson for M&S said in a statement: "Richard is a talented individual and he has done a great job in menswear.

"His new role as managing director presents a unique and challenging opportunity to take on a wider remit including all trading departments as well as stores, ecommerce and property. We understand why Richard would want to pursue this and he leaves with our thanks and very best wishes for the future."

Prior to being head of menswear, Price also worked in womenswear at M&S, and had previously worked at Next. M&S added in the statement that his successor was yet to be appointed.
