Berlin-based fashion tradeshow, Bread & Butter has announced

that it is returning to its roots for its upcoming show in January.

Speculation has been growing for months regarding the future of the German fashion tradeshow, regarding the location and the on-going rumours that Karl-Heinz Muller wanted to sell, but the president of the show has dismissed claims saying that he is “ very proud” of his company.

He did add though that B&B was looking to the future and will be introducing a new format for January, which has been named the ‘Big Time – for the bold & brave brands’ edition.

In a nod to its roots, the next edition of the casualwear and accessories event will be a smaller more curated selection of exhibitors, which includes dropping a “number of existing, long-term exhibitors” as part of the major overhaul.

In a letter from Karl-Heinz Müller, it said the shake-up was as a result of its “relevant top brands expecting a strict selection and the adjustment of their neighbourhoods”. This will mean that B&B will “only accept brands and labels enjoying the necessary acceptance in the community”, which has left a number of brands confused about their future with the tradeshow.

Müller also confirmed that B&B would be staying in Berlin for the foreseeable future, and that its dates will take place a day earlier from Tuesday, January 15th to Thursday, January 17th, in order to better accommodate visitors who would otherwise be divided by fashion events in Florence, Milan, and Paris, which take place around the same time.
