Gallery International Fashion Fair has come to be known as

the European fashion fair that presents probably the most exciting range of high quality brands. Not least on account of the Scandinavian nature of the event. For the Danish fashion fair has managed to gather almost all of the renowned Scandinavian brands under one roof - a feat that has not yet been accomplished by any other organisation. Dagmar, a Swedish fashion brand that first exhibited at the second edition of Gallery, will be showing its latest fabulous collection at the forthcoming edition of Gallery. We spoke to Marketing Director and founder Karin Söderland about the Dagmar brand and its presence at the Gallery International Fashion Fair.

How would you describe the Dagmar brand?
Dagmar was launched in 2005. We started with just knitwear, but we have since developed a complete collection. Knitwear still plays a leading role in the collection (we love it!) but we feel that for a brand to have a distinctive and recognisable identity it has to present a complete style. We now produce a complete wardrobe, but we concentrate entirely on clothing. We are obsessive when it comes to quality. And I mean that! We have a passion for the most fabulous fabrics and only use the most exquisite fabrics offered by the very best Italian suppliers. When it comes to design, Dagmar likes to make effective use of contrast and somehow manages to combine an unconventional and refined feel in every garment. Always a tall order and always an exciting challenge! There are Dagmar women all over the world and they lead an urban lifestyle. They know exactly what they’re doing, where they’re going, what to eat, and so on. We believe there are Dagmar women in every major city in the world.”

When did Dagmar first exhibit at Gallery and what made you decide to take part in the fair?
“To be honest, I can’t remember. It’s a long time ago. I think we first exhibited at the second edition of Gallery and we have enjoyed exhibiting at the fair ever since.”

What would you say is the strength of Gallery?
“The organisers have exceptionally good taste and they always manage to gather an interesting mix of exceptional brands under one roof. The fair is always captivating and at the same time it also serves as a meeting point for people from the industry. Of course it is also hard work - every year we get lots of orders from new customers. But you also want other brands to do good business and that’s the atmosphere you feel at Gallery. Everyone who exhibits at the fair is aware that it is a joint endeavour – otherwise you are left with a very limited offering. We all hope that, once again, buyers will realise how important it is to visit a good fashion fair this year.”

What is it that makes Gallery especially interesting for retailers?
“Well for one thing they get to see the crème de la crème of Scandinavian design and, if the journalists who write for the international press, such as Vogue UK and The Times, are to be believed, Scandinavian fashion is hot!”

Why should Gallery visitors head for the Dagmar stand in particular?
“Because we will be presenting our most fabulous collection ever. All I can say is that it is absolutely exquisite.”

What do you expect from the forthcoming edition of the fair?
“Above all we are looking forward to meeting up with all of our customers!”

Is there anything you would recommend as a definite must-see in Copenhagen for foreign visitors?
“To be honest I don’t know Copenhagen that well, but I can say that it’s a fantastic city, and certainly worth exploring on foot.”
