House of Fraser will install a virtual queuing system in a bid to reduce the waiting

time for its click-and-collect customers. The service is expected to roll out in 15 shops across the UK in the first quarter after successfully testing it last year at its London City store.

By the end of this year, all its stores should offer the service, which reduces the time to pick up customer's pre-ordered goods.

The system allows shoppers to check in via a self-service kiosk as they enter the store. They then receive a text with an estimated waiting time and a link allowing them to check the progress. Customers can then shop in the store or head out for a coffee rather than wait in a queue, Retail Week reported.
