Luxury label Juicy Couture has teamed up with Steve Madden to launch a new

shoe collection and enter the footwear category.

Although the financial details of the licensed agreement have not been disclosed, Authentic Brand Group (ABG), the brand management company which owns the Juicy Couture's intellectual property assets, signed a deal for Steve Madden to become the exclusive international partner for the design, sourcing and production of all the women's footwear lines.

“We had multiple choices, but Steven Madden knows how to make fun shoes that are very on trend,” said Jamie Salter, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ABG, to WWD. “They are not followers, but leaders in footwear. Juicy is the leader in fun products and Steve Madden knows how to hit that down the fairway.”

The footwear collection will consist of two separated priced lines, with the higher-priced line ranging from 80 dollars to 200 dollars. The lower-priced collection will be launched after the first line, and is expected to retail at select department stores in the US.

“Juicy is a fantastic brand. It is as American as apple pie,” added Steve Madden, founder and CEO of his eponymous label. He revealed that 14 years, he met with Juicy Couture's founder, Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor to discuss creating a footwear line for the label. However, talks between the two parties died down because the label's founders “wanted to do expensive shoes, about 400 dollars a pair,” concluded Madden.

The new footwear range is set to launch on all Juicy Couture stores spring 2015, as well as all shop-in-shops, selected department stores and online via the label's website.
