fashion in perspective

The range of brands in this year’s summer edition is very varied and extremely well-balanced. By assembling a range of hundreds of new collections, modefabriek creates a complete brand and trend experience. These top-quality brands have been divided into six segments: classic, international, front-runners, cosmopolitan menswear, high-end women’s design and jeans. You can find a summary of all participating labels in the attachments.

designer platforms

The Next stage (featuring young, up-and-coming designers), the Cutting Edge stage (avant-garde) and the Talent 2010 stage (featuring new graduates in collaboration with HTNK Fashion Recruitment & Consultancy) offer a comprehensive vision of the future. The unique and memorable collections allow the visitors to make acquaintance with these promising new Dutch and international designers.

shows

Following a successful premiere in January, another 16 designers participating in the design platform will have the chance to showcase their talents at the ‘next and cutting edge present..’ catwalk show. In addition to this, renowned brands such as Aaiko, Ichi and 10 Feet will also present their new 2011 collections by putting on powerful individual shows.

original w♥♥d

A grand, inspiring exhibition in the centrally located square pays homage to wood. The w♥♥d exhibition shows how the design and processing of this most basic of materials has developed through the ages.

We regularly come across wood not only in architecture and furniture, but also in other products, cutting-edge technologies, wood processing, jewellery and even textiles. The w♥♥d exhibition brings together and showcases traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The designs on show have a very simple and basic vibe, which often creates a surprising conceptual effect. Examples of exhibits include a table that has been given a new dimension as a musical instrument, a beautiful rug created by delicately interweaving textiles and wood, and a pair of wonderful wooden trainers that give whole new lease of life to the humble clog!

mini golf club by La Bolleur

Wood also lays the foundations for another eye-catching project created by designers from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Design collective La Bolleur created a real mini-golf course that runs along the length of the walkway to the jeans hall. Get your club from the corridor and try to master the challenge laid on by this impressive design project. The mini-golf course offers a pleasant way for visitors to relax, practice their swing and/or watch the other mini-golfers, accompanied by a delicious cup of coffee and inspiring music provided by the DJ.

lively festival

Of course, relaxation is best accompanied by a nice drink or two! Day one is traditionally concluded with ‘THE BORREL’, a drinks reception on Strand Zuid. At every edition of modefabriek, this now-famous gathering, organised in conjunction with Fuse, attracts hundreds of fashion professionals, ensuring a spectacular and memorable experience.
