Moncler H1 revenues up 19 percent

REPORT_ Moncler has reported a 19 percent rise in first-half revenues to 218.3 million euros (292.2 million dollars)

on the back of retail expansion in Asia and the United States. Its sales in Asia increased 48 percent in January-June period, before currency effects, owing to a strong performance in both Japan and China. Moncler's revenue jumped 27 percent in April-June quarter. Sales at Moncler's own stores too increased before the currency effects in the first half compared to a year before, around three times faster than that of wholesale sales.

Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) stood at 46.4 million euros (62.1 million dollars). The company plans to increase the number of its mono-brand stores to 160 by the year-end from 144 currently. They were 138 mono-brand stores at the end of the first quarter.

Second-quarter sales in Italy, whose economy suffered heavily due to recession in the second quarter, showcased a rise of 14 percent after a 4 percent drop in January-March period. Sales in Asia went up 56 percent despite the weakness of the yen.
