Mothercare, the maternitywear retailer, is teaming up with eBay in a bid to garner back its online market

share.

The UK retailer, which issued a profit warning last month after a tough Christmas, has faced fierce competition from online retailers, including Amazon, and from supermarkets, Retail Week reported.

Mothercare is selling its own-label products on eBay at both full and discounted prices.

EBay UK, which has more than 18 million unique visitors a month, already has a strong presence in the maternity market.

EBay UK vice-president Tanya Lawler said: “This is simply the latest step in our journey, offering well-known retail brands and partners an additional platform to reach their customers.”
