Italian luxury label Salvatore Ferragamo announced

yesterday the reopening of its Hong Kong flagship store at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel after a complete renovation and expansion.

Though it's not the company’s only store in Hong Kong, it may be the most historic given that it already opened in 1986 and has become one of the landmarks of the city. After the expansion, the store now measures about 350 square meters and showcases the brand’s men’s and women’s collections, shoes, bags, eyewear, fragrances, watches, accessories and jewellery.

To mark the occasion, Salvatore Ferragamo also unveiled its “L’Icona Ferragamo” online project in Greater China, which celebrates 35 years of the Vara and Varina, the label’s iconic stacked-heel pump and ballet flat. For the series, “US-based photographer Cedric Buchet … captured various moments in a day in the life of a handful of iconic women, each wearing the Vara or Varina in her own personal style” according to the company’s press release.

The latest revamp of the flagship store is part of the Salvatore Ferragamo’s greater expansion plans in Asia Pacific that includes a network of stores in China, India, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam and the Philippines, all controlled through the company’s Hong Kong headquarters. As of 30th June, the Ferragamo Group operates over 610 mono-brand stores worldwide.
