Harvey Nichols, fashion, beauty and lifestyle retailer, is set to open a new small format concept in the Liverpool One shopping area, which will open in autumn 2012, occupying the 22,000 sq ft retail space that used to house Habitat in Peter’s Lane.

Further
details on the new store concept is set to be unveiled in spring 2012, but it will be the brand’s second store opening in Liverpool in 12 months, as in September the Harvey Nichols Foodmarket temporary pop-up shop made its debut.

This news comes as Liverpool One celebrates a successful 2011, which saw the shopping area record a 5 per cent increase in footfall compared to 2010, and more than a 10 per cent increase in sales, according to a report by independent research firm, Javelin. The findings also revealed that the Liverpool One attracted over 950,000 people in the week before Christmas, representing a 30 per cent increase on the previous year.

Commenting on the news, Miles Dunnett, Head of Asset Management, Grosvenor Liverpool Fund, said: “There is no better testament to the success of Liverpool One, and indeed Liverpool, than Harvey Nichols’ decision to choose it for this new-format store.”

Joseph Wan, Chief Executive at Harvey Nichols, added: “Liverpool One is the number one shopping destination at the heart of this great city. Liverpool One serves a large catchment area, with a loyal and discerning customer, and there is no better place from which to launch this exciting new concept.”

Liverpool One, set in the heart of Liverpool City Centre, has over 160 stores, bars and restaurants, a 14-screen cinema, an indoor adventure golf course and a five-acre park; retailers include Topshop, John Lewis, Debenhams, Karen Millen, Whistles and Reiss.
