Riccardo Tisci presented his spring/summer 2012 Givenchy Haute Couture collection yesterday in Paris and showcased a 10-piece line-up inspired by the glamour of the 1920s and 1930s.
The collection was divided into three rooms: the first devoted to crocodile, which included a gown that took more than 350 hours to make, due to the crocodile skins being hand-cut scale by scale, then bleached, dyed and then embroidered on its mat soft side onto the silk tulle; the crystal room showcased dresses featuring Art Deco embellishments; and the final room was dedicated to black and white.
The collection is feminine in its silhouettes with a graphic sharpness, which was highlighted by the exquisite detailing and the colour palette of black, white, brown, cream and bronze that was enlightened by the opulent jewellery.
