British department store Harvey Nichols has unveiled new windows in celebration of Her Royal Highness’ Diamond Jubilee and the last sixty years of successful British retail.

In the department stores “most ambitious installation to date” the windows of the central London store have been transformed into a quaint British high street of yesteryear, complete with shops and boutiques seen throughout the Queen’s illustrious reign.

The patriotic display, which took more than a week to complete by a team of 40, focuses around the 1950s to celebrate the era of the Queen’s coronation, with specialist shops dedicated to lingerie, menswear ladieswear and food; with boutiques called Harvey Nickers, The Knightsbridge Corner Shop, H. Nichols and Sons Greengrocer, Blooming Lovely Florist, and Nic’s Plaice Fishmonger.

“We wanted our Jubilee windows have a vintage 1950′s feel about them to reflect on the era of the Queen’s coronation while also referencing this season’s ladylike fashion,” says Janet Wardley, Harvey Nichols’ Head of Visual Display. “This window scheme been one of the most fun to conceptualize – it’s a striking contrast to the contemporary approach we normally take with our installations, but retains our distinctly tongue-in-cheek sense of humour!”
