London fashion week designer Mary Katrantzou has designed this year’s Christmas tree for the Design Museum.

The two-dimensional design features a mainly green “maze-like print” design, which has been reworked from Katrantzou’s current autumn/winter 2012 collection. Measuring three metres in height, the Christmas tree decorated with bows will be displayed on the museum’s outer wall until January 9.

Commenting on the project, Katrantzou said: “The print was inspired by formal gardens and artful box parterres, these were layered and overlaid to create an intricate maze-like print reminiscent of a hand embroidered lace motif”.

Last year the Design Museum enlisted designer Giles Miller to reinvent the Christmas tree, which he did by creating a cardboard tree that measures six metres high.
