Going green might be one of your New Year resolutions, which is also the case for Laura Bailey who will support the national sustainable fashion competition: Make Your Mark in Fashion. The sustainable fashion competition offers young people the opportunity to get a foot in the  highly competitive fashion industry and develop a new sustainable fashion range for an existing brand. Entrants between 14 and 30 are required to take into account every aspect of a successful collection, from creative design and manufacture through to retail. Interested parties have only three weeks to go until the competition closes on January 31st 2008.

Fashion designer and model Laura Bailey says: “It is heartening to see Make Your Mark in Fashion bringing together experience and youth on the essential subject of sustainable fashion. The labels involved in this competition are pioneers in showing that green and chic are not mutually exclusive; now it is important that eco fashion ensures its own sustainability by engaging the ideas and creativity of future fashion leaders."

The initiative is run by the Make Your Mark campaign, which aims to encourage an enterprise culture among young people, and is supported by the Ethical Fashion Forum. Each team entering will be asked to identify one of nine leading sustainable fashion businesses that they are keen to work with and tailor their proposal to suit this business.

The businesses that will act as judges and mentors are Ciel, Enamore, From Somewhere, Junky Styling, Juste, Liv, Makepiece, Terra Plana and The Hemp Trading Company.
