American Apparel net sales up 4 percent

American Apparel total net sales for April 2013 showed an

increase of 4 percent over the prior year period. Comparable sales increased 3 percent, which included a 4 percent increase in comparable store sales for its retail store channel and a 2 percent decrease in net sales for its online channel. Wholesale net sales increased 7 percent for the month of April. As of April 30, 2013, American Apparel had 248 retail stores in 20 countries.

American Apparel is based in California. It is a manufacturer, distributor, and retailer of branded fashion basic apparel. “April represents our 23rd consecutive month of positive comparable store growth," said Dov Charney, Chairman and Chief Executive of American Apparel. “So far in May we are very pleased with sales performance. We believe the combination of better weather and a strong summer offering is having a positive impact on our overall results."
