Online retailer Asos has named former Arcadia director Hilary Riva and Rita Clifton as non-executive directors

of the company, effective April 1.

Riva is currently a non-executive director of property company Shaftesbury, and London & Partners, the official promotional organisation for London, however, between 1996 and 2001, she was a member of the management board of Arcadia serving as managing director of Evans, Top Shop, Principles, Wallis, Dorothy Perkins, and Warehouse. Riva then went on to serve as managing director of Rubicon Retail, where she jointly led the management buy-out of Principles, Hawkshead, Warehouse and Racing Green from Arcadia.

Clifton is currently chairman of BrandCap, the strategic brand consultancy, and Populus, the research and opinion pollster, and is a non-executive director on the Boards of Bupa and Nationwide.

Asos chairman Brian McBride said: “We are delighted to be announcing the appointment of two highly regarded businesswomen to the Asos Board. Fashion and brand are key to our success and their expertise in these areas is unquestionable. We are looking forward to working with them both and are confident they will make significant contributions to the continuing success of Asos.”
