LVMH has announced its sales are up in the first quarter of 2011, having risen 17% to €5.2 billion.

The French luxury group reported an excellent start to the year, continuing the trends seen at the end of 2010. The United States, Europe and Asia had a strong momentum, with the exception of Japan. After the earthquake in Japan, the Group’s local teams worked hard to effect a gradual return to normal business.

All business groups recorded double-digit organic revenue growth in the quarter, including its prize label Louis Vuitton. The LVMH fashion and leather goods division goods recorded organic revenue growth of 13% in the first quarter of 2011. Louis Vuitton continued its momentum which was driven by tourism and local clients for its high quality products.

Production capacities were expanded in order to support this demand, with a new Marsaz workshop opened in the Drôme region of France.
