Following the sudden departure of Thomas Grote in May of this year, Mexx has found a new leader in Douglas Diemoz. Lewis Lee Bird III, President of the Board of Directors of Mexx: "Doug's experience, his knowledge and - perhaps most
importantly - his intense passion for the Mexx brand clearly make him the best leader for the future growth of our company."Diemoz
"Mexx is ready for great success," says the brand new CEO. "We have the best talent and a strong product. We are continually expanding our most important markets. And: we have a lot of fun."
Last month Bird, joined in the interview by Douglas Diemoz, told FashionUnited that the search for a new CEO was almost at an end. Twenty potential leaders had been interviewed. Expectations were high. "We want to make Mexx great again. With a new CEO, a true leader who believes in Mexx," he said at the time.
Diemoz will continue former CEO Thomas Grote's strategy for Mexx. Grote conceived a restructuring plan - for which 80 million euros has been set apart - to help save the struggling company. After a few lean years Mexx shut down unprofitable stores and new talent was hired for the marketing division.
Recently, Mexx also launched the new Metropolitan collection. The line is still casual, but exudes more citified chic. It is more fashionable and more dressed up, with focus on the quality of the fabrics.
