The critically acclaimed illustrator J. Damgaard will be

the new face for DEPECHE’s Spring 2012 collection. This is the first time DEPECHE chooses to launch a collection with a face and, in addition to beautiful photos, the collaboration has also resulted in a virtual reality comic.

In connection with the launch of its Spring 2012 collection at the CIFF fashion fair at Bella Center, Depeche is collaborating with 24-year-old illustrator Julie Damgaard, whose artist name is J. Damgaard. The collaboration is the first of its kind for DEPECHE and, in addition to beautiful photos, has also resulted in a virtual reality comic.

DEPECHE and J. Damgaard, both from the city of Horsens, Denmark, have found a common ground in rough and fine Nordic expression, and uncompromising craftsmanship: “For many years I refused to use models to show my bags and belts, but I saw more than just a pretty face in Julie – I saw a person who possesses the same perfectionism and passion for quality and details that I am driven by, which makes her a perfect representative for the brand,” explains CEO and owner of DEPECHE, Janni Hørdum.

“And in Julie’s pictures I saw the same very Nordic expression and the same combination of rough and feminine simplicity that characterises DEPECHE,” says Janni Hørdum.

Therefore, the two women entered into an innovative collaboration. From 2012, J. Damgaard will illustrate a reality comic for DEPECHE based on the actual diaries of three women. The comics will be launched at the CIFF fashion fair at Bella Center and will then live on at DEPECHE’s Facebook page.

“DEPECHE is a dynamic and innovative company and Janni is a woman who, like me, dares to pursue her ideas and trust her intuition. This makes it a fun and exciting challenge for me to contribute my face and my craft to the DEPECHE brand,” says illustrator Julie Damgaard.
