100million Christmas shoppers in the West End

New West End company which represents retailers across

London’s West End is predicting that one million shoppers will hit Bond Street, Oxford Street and Regent Street over the next couple of days before Christmas.

With Christmas Eve landing on a Saturday, New West End Company has predicted that £100 million will be spent in the West End over the next two days. 80% of Christmas Eve’s 400,000 shoppers are estimated to be male, according to figures, doing a last minute present shop.

Jace Tyrrell from the New West End Company, said: “However, West End retailers are already hotly anticipating the Boxing Day sales. Although a tube strike is threatened, we anticipate over 700,000 shoppers will hit the Oxford Street sales, putting over £50 million through the tills and helping retailers to maximise their end of year profits.”
